Tony Burgess
Tony Burgess is a natural and Swing Patrol love having Tony at the helm of Swing Patrol Tassie. Combined with his loveable and fun out look on life, his natural ability to teach in a fun and passionate way have made Tony a big hit with all his students.
He has been dancing for 7-9 years and starting during High School as a bit of a joke as he was being the only guy in the class ( sounds like Billy Elliot.) Tony thought it would be a bit of fun but then quickly realising that he could actually move with out looking silly. He followed on by studying Dance & Drama as his main subject at College. Through College he had an amazing opportunity to travel to America to perform in a musical about his lovely state of Tasmania. He has since been involved in many different musicals such as “The Wizard of Oz”, “Sweet Charity” and “Shout”.
Since leaving college Tony has have been teaching salsa for 3 to 4 years with Rachel.
Through teaching salsa he found swing dancing at the Devonport Jazz Festival. He found his calling. Growing up with his grandmother who loved Swing Music he has been brought up listening to Legends such as Louis Armstrong, Glen Miller and Duke Ellington.
In Tony's words, "My goal for Swing Patrol is to share my passion of swing with the whole community and hopefully my passion will bring in more and more people into the wonderful world of swing. “What a Wonderful World”."
We love having Tony involved and apart fro his misguided passion for Manchester United he has been a wonderful addition to the Swing Patrol family.
Some footage of Tony ( and Scott) being not so serious at a pub in Devonport.
